In an era of crisis and complexity, public sector organisations need to align their portfolios with new needs and ambitions. The first step is to understand your innovation portfolio and start to steward it strategically.
This is a collaborative sharing and learning session with organisations who undertook the portfolio exploration exercise prior to this Government After Shock event. Join us for this opportunity to share the learnings from your own session with an international community of peers.
Prior to this learning and sharing session, the Observatory of Public Sector Innovation invites public sector organisations around the world to analyse their innovation portfolio using the Portfolio Exploration Tool (see information below). This analysis exercise can be completed as a workshop: OPSI will provide you with all the workshop materials: access to the Portfolio Exploration Tool, facilitators guide, posters and more. Based on this workshop kit, you can organise a workshop in virtual or analogue form within your organisation.

Host your own Innovation Portfolio Exploration event (Between 9-16 November 2020) — REGISTRATION CLOSED
What is it?
You want to understand your team’s or organisation’s innovation portfolio? The Portfolio Exploration Tool (PET) kit event is a self-organised innovation strategy session with your team to do so, using the results from OPSI’s Portfolio Exploration Tool.
Time commitment
You should plan about 2 hours for this event, and each participant should plan 30-45 minutes to complete the PET online self-assessment in advance.
Role of the host
We will give you access to our online Portfolio Exploration Tool and a kit to run your own session whenever you want between 9-16 November. As host, you will convene and organise participants, and run the workshop based on our facilitator’s kit. You may choose to run it physically or virtually based on your circumstances.
What host/facilitators need
You will need our kit, the access link to the PET online tool (link to be provided to hosts), your participants’ PET results, and an open mind. We will provide you with detailed instructions in advance.
How it fits into the Government After Shock event
The kit helps you explore what has changed or shifted over the last year and pinpoint the possible points of intervention for shifting the future innovation portfolio in your team or organisation.
Who to involve
Not an innovation team or new to the topic? No matter. You can still use the tool and start thinking about what kind of innovation your organisation or team needs. You may involve a small group or your entire organisation. The format and number of participants are up to you and your goals.
