Juhani Damski, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of the Environment
Dr. Juhani Damski (born 1964) is the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of the Environment, Finland. Prior to the current position Mr. Damski was the Director General of the Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI). Dr. Damski has 30 years of experience in the public sector. In the years 2013 – 2015, he was the Director of the Development Unit at the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Finland. Dr. Damski holds a PhD in Meteorology from the Helsinki University.

Among other national and international positions of trust Mr. Damski is a member of Oulu University Board of Directors and Arctic Advisory Board. Dr. Damski is Co-Chair of the Working Group on Construction under the Finnish-Russian Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation. He is also a member of the Smart & Clean Foundation Supervisory Board, CilmateArena Board of Directors and Forest Academy for Decision Makers Advisory Board. Dr. Damski was the Permanent Representative of Finland with the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and President of the Council of the European Centre for Medium-range weather forecasts (ECMWF). He was also the Chairman of the National IPCC committee and Member of the Research Infrastructure Committee of Finland, the Space Committee of Finland as well as of the Arctic Advisory Board for the Government of Finland.
